How long have you been sewing?? Who taught you to sew?? Have you taken any classes that have keyed into good sewing habits?? I was taught by my MOM first then a courtier, then by Stretch and Sew, then by many great teachers and by making MANY, MANY mistakes. I will show you how to avoid some of my mistakes and teach you the best of what I have learned. Learn simple things about your machines, your sergers, how to lay out patterns, how to pin properly, how to not have seam mismatches, easily eased fabric, and how to fix mistakes. Bring some of yours, there may be hope!! I love to sew and fit and I especially love to help others learn better ways to sew. SEW come and learn with me.

Nancy Vest/ CardiganHands-on (limit 20)
Saturday, 1 pm – 4 pm, Room Sky B
Some sewing ability is good for this class.
Nancy is quite the girl. She can be a vest or a cardigan/jacket, has a soft front drape that can have a curve or a straight fall, fits almost all sizes .. really!, and is made with soft drapery fabric. The kits will have a selection of my fabulous fabrics such as stretch laces, sweater knits, ITY's, rayons, etc. in many colors, prints and solids, all work well in this garment. You will learn how to do (a rolled hem on a serger, or a turn over and top stitch finish on a sewing machine) using my stay tape. This finish gives a great look to this garment and will work well with other items you may chose to make. You will want to make this garment for yourself as well as for others, it is an easy gift.
Kit Includes – Nancy Pattern, Pre-cut Nancy garment (approx. 2 yards of fabric), and Stay tape to complete the project.
Kit Fee $30.00 for the Vest and $40.00 for Cardigan. You will select either the Vest or Cardigan.

Emma or the machine company will provide threads if in a serger room. In a sewing machine room please ask the students to bring a selection of colors that they might choose to wear and I will have some on hand as always that they can use as they will probably choose a color that they did not bring.
